Kenny Log-ins

Played by: Danny goat (faits)
Overview
Real name Jean-Jacques Francois Jacque-Jean. Young tech and self-described jack-of-all-trades from Port Fantôme, a drift city off the coast of French Guiana. Grew up watching orbital launches. Never went to school — the drift wasn’t that kind of place. There were no roads there either: he grew up around boats, jet skis, and small planes, and never saw a car until he came to Night City a few years ago. The drift’s old, cobbled-together tech is his native environment. The university district of South Night City is his backyard now: he hangs around it, plays hacky sack, goes to Pixel Dust, but he’s not a student and doesn’t pretend to be. Talks a big game about missions he’s run and claims to have been to space — and might be telling the truth.
Appearance
Young. Recognizable by glowing select/slash shades and a power glove. Bag lady chic aesthetic. Rides an electric bike. French Guianan accent.
Known Facts
- Role: Tech
- Grew up in Port Fantôme (drift city off the coast of Fortress Kourou, French Guiana — the EEC’s equatorial launch site, held through the First Corporate War)
- Parents and three older siblings were an edgerunner crew — they didn’t come back from a job: father Jean Jacques-Jean, mother Jeanne St-Jean, eldest sister Jeanne-Marie Jacques-Jean St-Jean, older brother Jean-François Jacques St-Jean-Jacques-Jean, older sister Jeanne-Jacqueline Françoise St-Jean. Life path material (unconfirmed in play) ties their disappearance to a corporate operation at Fortress Kourou arranged by Vale — exact fate still undecided
- Was contacted by their employer and told he owed their debt; ran a job helping another team breach a launch site, ended up in orbit, barely got back — per unconfirmed life path material, the “employer” framing traces back to Rook, a childhood friend who told him about the debt and pushed him toward the job; that job also involved Breaker and Annie Linux, the rest of his childhood crew from the Drift
- Landed in Night City essentially at random — later material (unconfirmed) reframes this: after months living as an undocumented stowaway on an orbital station, he was found and taken in by Switch, who trained him and eventually arranged his return to Earth, having Unity recover him in Night City
- Lives in a cargo container apartment/workshop on the edge of the combat zone, on a Polish street (sounds like “Kawólski” / “Cawoski”) — across from Goose Salvage
- Has an arrangement with The Second Sons — the gang watches his workshop when he’s away; his contact is lieutenant Don Swayze
- Brokered a deal with Don Swayze: clean up the projector at Schroeder’s Theater for Good Movie Night → protection fee drops to zero (fulfilled Session 03)
- Tech partner: Unity (Euna Tae), who works alongside him
- Carries The Powerglove (a keytar in the same power glove form factor as his cyberware interface): always running loops and beats from the 2020s artist PNYBOI
- A corporation has been pressuring him to work exclusively for them and has been “gunning for him” lately
- Can repair armor and weapons in the field (Fix-it Tech role abilities)
- Carries no lethal weapons by choice; loadout is a stun gun and an air pistol loaded with acid rounds (for armor ablation); working on custom alternate rounds (sleep/drug/pepper bombs) — DV finally set at Session 04’s open (21, hittable on a 9 or 10 thanks to his weapons deck levels), but rolled a 1 and failed the invention check; still unresolved
- Neural implants confirmed (Dr. Willie’s scan); has a neural link
- Self-identifies as “the tech guy around here” to anyone who asks; has put out feelers with Dr. Brightowski for second-hand boneware
- Rides past Nexus Mods multiple times a day — ostensibly by accident
- Looted an assortment of low-grade, partially disassembled cyberware scraps from Dr. Willie’s back room during the Nexus Mods break-in; DM noted they could be leveraged for tech payments
- His electric bike has no speedometer; when asked how fast it goes, he said “maybe 8… maybe 14, I don’t know”
- Purchased Netrunner rank 1 during the Session 03 downtime; first use was net-hacking a cyber dog
- Has a local encrypted copy of the Alvin Partridge data cube; decrypting over time — expects more accessible content by Session 04
- Owns a Biotechnica cyber dog named Max (full name revealed Session 04: Betamax), adopted from Martin Gorsky’s abandoned apartment; aggression routines reduced, trauma memories deleted, Kenny uploaded as “best buddy”
- Made a running joke of introducing himself as “Kenny Loggins” (the real-world musician) when meeting Ledger — “because I log in, I log right in, you know” — clearly intentional wordplay on his own name, not a mishearing
- Netrunning used again in Session 04: repeatedly “hacked and logged in and logged out” while high on synthcoke in the sewers, to Felix’s amusement
- Successfully brewed his first batch of synthcoke in Session 05 (Basic Tech, DV 9, rolled a 1 exploding to 12 — rough, street-grade, but it works); now a going concern he keeps making for himself and Felix
- Forced Choo-Two (car coolant) into Professor Jackson’s mouth at gunpoint to break his connection to The Calling, then donated blood for an emergency transfusion to keep him alive — cost him for the rest of the day
- Reluctantly gave up Dr. Brightowski’s location to Continental Brands as a “personal favor,” asking them to be gentle; CB mercs killed him (presumed) minutes later — Kenny privately now considers Mr. Continental untrustworthy
- Refused Mr. Zip’s plan to grenade The Calling’s remaining members in an elevator; brokered a defend-them-for-a-consent-contract deal instead when Martin Gorsky came asking for help
- Session 06: called Unity (Euna Tae) mid-raid, high and genuinely unsure he’d survive, to say goodbye and ask her to look after Betamax if he didn’t come back
- Session 06: forged falsified data through his internal agent to convince Mr. Continental that Shoa Ling was concealing dangerous “Borgware,” diverting Continental Brands’ forces away from the crew; dragged Misty to safety under fire; landed a nat-39 hack (DV 26) that scrambled Mr. Continental’s ability to order kill-strikes on The Calling; forced Mr. Continental’s surrender and Dr. Willie’s release; told Dr. Willie the truth about Dr. Brightowski’s death; proposed cryogenically freezing The Calling’s members as a stopgap against their Nonh supply crisis (validated in principle by Dr. Willie)
- Riding his Sandevistan and synthcoke together in Session 06 put him in a “flow state” — dodged nearly every attack thrown at him for the back half of the fight
- Session 07: drunk-dialed Unity with a rambling apologetic voicemail while coming down; she showed up in person furious and tried to slap him — his drunken dodge (Brawling) kept him standing. Garbled the story of the raid badly enough that she stormed off just as Isabella had with Broker earlier the same night
- Session 07: got his muscle and bone lace installed by Dr. Willie (visibly bulkier afterward — “feeling a little hollow, but looking pretty good”); told Willie he has something else to get installed in about a month, unspecified
- Session 07: began building a “linear frame,” a two-week cyberware fabrication project, explicitly driven by recurring visions — worse when high — of his father as a “hyper competent edge runner” he doesn’t yet feel he’s become but believes he has to in order to keep surviving; the most direct on-screen gesture yet toward his unconfirmed life path backstory
- Session 07: earned a reputation point for his Session 06 hack against Mr. Continental
- Session 08: sent Unity an apologetic heads-up before leaving for Ziptown; her only reply was a rolling-eyes emoji
- Session 08: brewed another bad batch of synthcoke and shared it with Felix (“Bump Brothers”) before the trip; while high, Felix shared a dark childhood story that visibly unsettled Kenny more than Felix himself — Kenny contrasted it against his own rough childhood after his parents disappeared, noting he was at least spared “that bad touch”; mentioned, unprompted, that Golden Girl still won’t install his bone lace
- Session 08: sold a desperate stranger the leftover bad synthcoke batch for 40 EB in exchange for answering two of his work survey questions
- Session 08: checked in on Betamax, left in Unity’s care — Animal Handling roll showed the dog still slowly working through his trauma from Martin Gorsky
- Session 08: had a brief paranoid episode on the drive to Ziptown, convinced someone was hitting him — resolved as nothing physical, just sunlight through his shutter shades
- Session 08: jacked in to record ECU performance data during the Zipmobile’s first test drive; bought a Sternmeyer MO4 Variable Assault Rifle through Felix’s fixer connections at full price after Felix’s rolls went badly; played the “zip zip zip zip” beat (sampled from Mr. Zip’s own voice) on his Powerglove to accompany Zip’s campfire fire dance
- Session 08: confirmed on the spot that the Zipmobile never had its own onboard agent — the “car’s agent” from earlier sessions was Kenny voice-performing with his own agent the whole time
- Has learned to cook synthcoke badly on purpose. Felix now prefers the botched “brown” version (“hits different”)
- Starting to moderate: in Session 09 he pretended to take a bump with Felix and didn’t, and told the crew plainly that Felix “might have a problem — it takes more and more to get the fix,” while Kenny tries to keep it in moderation. It’s Kenny stepping back from the “Bump Brothers” routine, or at least trying to self-correct
- Self-conscious about his build lately. He says he’s been trying to work out more because his shirts don’t fit like they used to, and he wants to join Broker’s workouts
- Still calls the Duke Boys “the Dookie Boys” and holds a grudge over the Session 02 crossbow bolt
- Considers himself “Mr. Zip’s Vesna,” the crew’s counterpart to Ziptown’s mechanic, and wants an introduction to Vesna Ratchet
- Politically wary of the Pacifica Confederacy: calls them “somewhere between a government and a megacorp,” building roads so they can own them and “exercise power over the people.” He doesn’t think that’s inherently bad, but “it’s not the free-flying nomad situation”
- Session 09: jacked into the Blacktop Saints’ camp network. He located the orbital engine Baby Girl, pulled its history, and planted forged records (Forgery, burning all his remaining Luck) claiming its mechanic Ezekiel Washington had damaged it and wasn’t skilled enough to fix it. The roll was low, and the forgery likely isn’t very convincing. Kenny himself suspects he “did a bad job”
- Session 09: fixed the camp’s malfunctioning washing-machine water purifier with his tech tool (Basic Tech, DV 18), since he recognized the tech from the drift. He did it for free and introduced himself as “Kenny Log-ins” to the grateful nomads. No reputation awarded, though he figures they owe him one
- Session 09: proposed a heist disguised as raiders if negotiation for the engine fails, possibly with Peaches as wheelman. He openly acknowledged it would mean taking advantage of her
- Loadout addition: struggled all session to attach a grenade launcher to his new Sternmeyer assault rifle on the VTT. Wore a scavenged helmet with three bullet holes and a Pony Boy sticker to the race

Life Path Connections
All of the below come from background material provided outside of play — none of it is confirmed in-session yet, and specifics may change once it actually comes up at the table.
- Friend: Breaker (Tomas Baptiste) — childhood friend from the Drift; escaped the job that sent Kenny to orbit, now runs with a Nomad shipping clan
- Enemy (corporate exec): Vale (Adrian Voss-Vale) — arranged the corporate operation that took Kenny’s family; now building a second orbital logistics route through Night City
- Lover (imprisoned): Annie Linux (Anais Moreau) — childhood love from the Drift; sacrificed her own escape to launch Kenny into orbit, was arrested and blamed for it. Kenny doesn’t know this — he believes he abandoned her out of cowardice
- Childhood enemy: Rook (Micah Serrano) — same Drift crew, experienced their friendship as a one-sided rivalry; told Kenny about the corporate “debt” that started the whole chain of events
- Mentor (not a standard life path slot, but established background): Switch (Cassandra Svitchek) — found Kenny hiding aboard an orbital station and trained him; later arranged his return to Earth
Relationships
- Unity — tech partner, works out of Kenny’s workshop; per unconfirmed life path material, also the person Switch sent to recover Kenny when he returned to Earth
- Switch — mentor (unconfirmed in play); found and trained him during his time stowed away on an orbital station

Appearances
- Session 00 — Character introduced
- Session 01 — Hosted the briefing; picked the Piranha hideout lock; ran negotiation with Don Swayze (Good Movie Night deal)
- Session 02 — Co-pilot for the street race; went undercover as “Johnny St. John, interpretive dance student, three rich dads” to case Nexus Mods; picked the back-door lock; hacked Dr. Willie’s terminal (plaintext passwords); neutralized the cleaning lady with a stun gun and duct tape; revoked Cisco’s keycard access; spliced fake Piranha footage over the clinic’s camera record; repaired the Zip Mobile rear window; established contact with Dr. Brightowski for future tech work
- Session 03 — Built the “Kenny Loggins 9000 Projectifier” from salvaged theater parts (fabrication roll: 20); screened films at Goose Salvage for Don Swayze and Eric Roberts; fulfilled the Good Movie Night deal (protection fee now zero); cracked the data cube’s directory structure (two rolls, spent 3 luck); purchased Netrunner rank 1; net-hacked Martin Gorsky’s cyber dog to reduce aggression and adopt him; picked locks at Brzezinski Arms; repaired Mr. Zip’s armor with custom underlighting; set up audio dogbark trap on Martin’s computer
- Session 04 — Failed the custom ammo invention roll again (DV 21, needed a 9 or 10, rolled a 1); introduced himself to Ledger as “Kenny Loggins” as a running joke; offered Broker synthcoke before entering the sewers (declined) and did it with Felix instead; picked/hacked multiple electronic locks in the South Bay sewers; negotiated with The Calling alongside the crew; blindfolded and headphoned “Misty Cerulean” with a Pony Boy playlist to dampen her hive-mind connection; closed Zach’s data cube deal with Felix
- Session 05 — Brewed his first successful batch of synthcoke; stun-shot Misty Cerulean and forced Choo-Two into Professor Jackson’s mouth at gunpoint, then donated blood for his transfusion; kept Continental Brands updated throughout; gave up Dr. Brightowski’s location under a “personal favor” pretense that ended in his presumed death; refused to grenade The Calling’s remaining members and brokered a defense-for-consent-contract deal instead
- Session 06 — Forged falsified data to convince Mr. Continental that Shoa Ling was hiding dangerous “Borgware”; dragged Misty to safety under fire; landed a nat-39 hack against Mr. Continental’s agent; forced his surrender and Dr. Willie’s release; told Dr. Willie the truth about Dr. Brightowski’s death; proposed cryogenically freezing The Calling as a stopgap
- Session 07 — Drunk-dialed Unity and was confronted by her in person; got his muscle and bone lace installed; began building a two-week “linear frame” project, driven by visions of his father; called Dr. Willie to reschedule the installation, joking as “Jean-Jacques Français Bacchan” before revealing himself; deferred building Mr. Zip’s requested ammo to Felix for lack of downtime; earned a reputation point
- Session 08 — Sent Unity an apologetic heads-up (got only an emoji back); shared synthcoke and an emotional moment with Felix; sold a stranger the leftover batch for survey answers; checked in on Betamax; jacked in to record the Zipmobile’s test-drive data; bought an assault rifle; played guitar at the campfire
- Session 09 — Cooked Felix a deliberately bad synthcoke batch and faked his own bump; told Peaches about growing up roadless in Port Fantôme; hacked the Blacktop Saints’ network to locate Baby Girl and framed its mechanic with forged records; fixed the camp’s water purifier; pitched a raider-disguise heist
