The Duke Boys

Overview
Oliver and Noah Duke — two brothers affiliated with the Pacifica Confederacy who drive a beat-up red car with the Confederacy flag stenciled on the hood (or windshield; the paint is rough). Known for street racing, crossbow-based sportsmanship, and strong opinions about corporate types. They challenged Mr. Zip to a street race in Session 02.
Members
Oliver Duke — the talker; approached the crew, made the race challenge, delivered the “long live the Confederacy” speech.
Noah Duke — the passenger; fired a crossbow from the window during the final stretch of the race.
Known Facts
-
Pacifica Confederacy nomads; have a settlement nearby and are “moving closer to the Confederacy”
-
Drive an old beat-up red car with a Pacifica Confederacy flag on the windshield
-
Regular visitors to the South Bay neighborhood, though not residents — Kenny Log-ins had seen the car around but never the people inside
-
Challenged Mr. Zip to a four-corner race (Harvard → Pewter → University → Kolaski); Mr. Zip won
-
Noah fired a crossbow from the passenger window mid-race, putting a bolt through the Zip Mobile’s rear window (17 damage, crossbow bolt recovered)
-
Lost gracefully by flipping the bird and driving off; no stakes were agreed on beforehand
-
Continental Brands crossbow bolt was thrown back at their car by Kenny on their way out; they felt it
-
Session 04: found drinking with Ledger at Crystal Lily; still sore losers about the race (“more like you’re losers”); Ledger didn’t seem fully comfortable around them
-
Confirmed members of the Blacktop Saints (Session 08). They’re huge racers there, and most of Peaches’s wins and losses have come against them
-
Call Mr. Zip “City Boy” because he’s spent more time in Night City than in the nomad camps lately
-
Genuine Pacifica loyalists. They credit the Confederacy with bailing the Saints out after the disastrous Sierra Nevada run and with bringing clean water, power, and a camp network: “These Pacifica guys, they’re on the level, man.” They also insist “they’re not a megacorp.” They defer to “management” and don’t want to cross the higher-ups
-
Their race car, the General, has been rebuilt and upgraded by the Saints’ mechanic Ezekiel Washington. It runs a nitrous system (confirmed by the DM) and can use it to jump clean over another car
-
Noah carries a holstered crossbow on his back: “That’s what we shoot around here… it has that nomad spirit”
-
Claim to be undefeated in danger races
-
Session 09: lost a daytime dirt-track race to Mr. Zip despite jumping the Zipmobile with nitrous mid-race. They took it well, clapping and saying “you live up to the name, Mr. Zip,” and are eager for a danger race. They hinted they’ll add “a little extra something something” to the General for it
Relationships
- Mr. Zip — lost to him twice, in a street race (Session 02) and on their home dirt track (Session 09); the rivalry has since turned friendly
- Ledger — drinking buddies / loose associates, met at Crystal Lily; now effectively their “management” at the Saints’ camp
- Peaches — frequent racing rival
- Ezekiel Washington — the mechanic who upgraded the General
- Kenny Log-ins — still calls them “the Dookie Boys” over the crossbow bolt; joked about putting a banana in the General’s tailpipe
Open Questions
Will they want a rematch? They got one (Session 09) and lost again. Next up is a danger race- What is their nomad settlement like, and how large is it? (Partly answered: see Blacktop Saints)
- What exactly is their role within the Pacifica Confederacy?
- How do they actually know Ledger?
- What “extra something something” will the General have for the danger race?
