Escalante Data Cube

Overview

A data cube that was the subject of the crew’s first job — Escalante’s missing package. It was hidden inside a Continental Brands shipping container, which was stolen by the Piranhas on Dr. Willie’s instructions. Dr. Willie received it with the stolen goods, didn’t recognize it, and it sat in Nexus Mods unattended. Golden Girl located it during the Continental Brands standdown at the end of Session 02. The crew now has the real one — and Fix-it-Felix is holding a fake.

Description

Arrives in its own case with a logo — described as “the kind of thing you don’t see people wearing around here.” The logo and case design mark it as Escalante property. The cube itself is small enough to have been transported inside a kibble container.

Contents

Unknown. Escalante CEO Alvin Partridge was vague about the contents. Isabella Taka didn’t know either. May be next year’s winter collection designs. May be something considerably more sinister.

The Fake

Fix-it-Felix was also in possession of a fake data cube provided by Zach the Hot Dog Maniac. Zach’s offer: swap the fake for the real one and hand the original to his employers for 3,000 EB.

Resolved in Session 04: Felix handed a cube over to Zach at his hot dog stand and received the full 3,000 EB, split among the crew. It’s genuinely unclear from the table which cube changed hands — Session 03 notes have Broker already returning “the data cube” to Alvin Partridge for a separate payment, and Kenny joked (without confirming or denying) about having “secretly modified the contents” before handing it to Zach. Whether Zach’s employers got the genuine article, the fake, or a doctored version is an open question.

Kenny Log-ins separately holds a local encrypted copy of the cube’s data, made before any handoff, which he has been decrypting over time (still in progress as of Session 04) — so the crew retains the underlying information regardless of which physical cube went where.

Current Status

• Zach’s deal: Closed — 3,000 EB paid, split 600 EB per crew member plus 95 EB to Broker for expenses
• Kenny’s local copy: Still decrypting; directory structure known (Continental Brands directories, lunar subdirectories, a “home project” folder, moon mining nested beneath it) but file contents not yet accessible
• Physical cube(s): Unclear which cube (real, fake, or altered) ended up with Alvin Partridge versus Zach’s employers
